Lentils, a valuable ally for soil health
Here, at Vivien Paille, the way food is produced and how it ends up on our tables is at the heart of our commitment. By promoting responsible, eco-friendly agriculture and by rolling out sustainable industrial practices, we create a virtuous circle between food production and consumption.
We firmly believe that these initiatives are but the beginning of a journey towards a more eco-friendly business.

We favour French producers and support sustainable practices such as organic agriculture and conservation agriculture (ACS in French).
This enables us to reduce our carbon footprint and guarantee premium-quality products while protecting natural resource and supporting local communities.
OUR GOALS FOR 2030
Protect biodiversity and strengthen national sovereignty
+ 35% volumes of French origin
+ 50% volumes of raw materials from responsible sectors: Bio (Organic), CE2 (environmental certification), ACS (conservation agriculture), IGP (PGI), AOP (PDO), Label Rouge, etc.
OUR INITIATIVES
Every project undertaken aims to achieve our set goals.

Growing green lentils in the Hauts-De-France region
Since 2022, hand-in-hand with the UNEAL cooperative and farmers from the region, we've been revitalizing the
green lentil sector in the Hauts-de France region.
During the 2022-2023 campaign, some 40 hectares of green lentils were planted by seven Unéal members to experiment this crop in the region of Valenciennes and to provide a new outlet in partnership with Vivien Paille.
In 2024, Unéal and Vivien Paille decided to increase lentil production to 130 hectares with some 27 members involved, with the aim of supplying our production plant locally.
Our commitment is expressed through tangible initiatives intended to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and our water consumption.
OUR GOALS FOR 2030
Optimize, reduce and promote alternatives to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
- 10% greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity
- 30% water consumption (m3/ton)
OUR INITIATIVES
Every project undertaken aims to achieve our set goals.
In 2024, our Microwave Steam bag (MSB) facility upgrades to save water!
Today, our MSB facility accounts for 85% of the overall water consumption for our Valenciennes site, which includes 43% by the water treatment system.
The current water treatment installation will be replaced by a more efficient osmosis unit. This new unit will enable 47% water savings, i.e. 21,000 m3.
In short, the share of water discharged by the osmosis system will represent only 6% of water consumption.
Here, at Vivien Paille, we're committed to developing the circular economy by rolling out tangible initiatives
to reduce, reuse and recycle our resources.
OUR GOALS FOR 2030
Reduce, recycle and take action to make a positive impact.
90% of our packaging to be recyclable or reusable by 2030
OUR INITIATIVES
Every project undertaken aims to achieve our set goals.

Focus on paper bags in stores
Today, we've already replaced plastic packaging with paper packaging for 16 product references.
This enables us to reduce plastic by 68 tons a year!
This change means:
Our goals for 2025: to switch 100% of our pulse packaging to recyclable paper bags
